Moscow annihilated…again

Mere weeks after surviving the mutant horrors of Metro 2033, the good people of Moscow stand once again at the brink of oblivion. 505 Games has announced that it will publish MorphX, a third person shooter for the Xbox 360 from Russian developer Targem Games. As one of the few survivors of a catastrophic alien invasion, you’ve cowered beneath the streets of the once proud capital. However, the time has come to emerge from the darkness and secure a future for humanity.

MorphX features a customisation mechanic vaguely reminiscent of Radical Entertainment’s Prototype. By absorbing alien DNA, you’ll gain access to new abilities. Though Targem has revealed only two of the upgrades, enhanced vision and accelerated healing, it seems likely the list will grow.

When the game was originally announced in 2007, it was known as The Swarm, which is a perfectly good title for an action packed sci-fi adventure. MorphX , on the other hand, sounds like a low budget cartoon designed to sell toys and trading cards. Let’s hope it’s not indicative of the game’s quality.

An Australian release is yet to be confirmed.
