“Damn it! This is why I hate shopping at Westfield during school holidays.”
A 12 year wait will soon come to end for millions of RTS fans. After an extensive period of public beta testing, Blizzard Entertainment has announced that StarCraft II: Wings of Liberty will be released for the PC on Tuesday 27 July 2010. The long and equally excruciating wait for StarCraft III will therefore commence on Wednesday 28 July 2010. Mark your calendars!
Wings of Liberty will be the first of at least three titles to bear the StarCraft II moniker. The initial release will contain an extensive Terran themed single player mode along with a multiplayer component featuring all three of the classic StarCraft races. Future releases are set to toss Protoss and Zerg solo campaigns into the mix.
The original game in the series continues to enjoy a fanatical following, particularly in South Korea, where matches are broadcast on television and leading players are considered celebrities. This is, I’m sure you’ll agree, just as it should be.
