First we had the announcement of Marvel vs Capcom 3 and I didn’t think I could get more excited. But I have gladly been proven wrong! At this year’s San Diego Comic Con Capcom has announced the release of what is destined to be the greatest match-up of fighters since, well, Marvel vs Capcom!

And that game is – Street Fighter X Tekken! The two greatest fighter franchises will come together for the first time and I don’t think I’ll be leaving the house for a long time once I get the game home. Only Kazuya vs Ryu, with Nina and Chun Li tagging in have been shown as yet, but I’m sure many more will be revealed soon. The possibilities are endless.

Street Fighter X Tekken will feature the well received art style of Street Fighter 4 and Capcom has promised that the fighters will retain their unique characteristics and signature moves. The game will not only include classic modes like Versus and Training, but will also mark the return of Tag Team from Tekken Tag Tournament. Capcom legend, and Street Fighter X Tekken project leader, Yoshinori Ono has said “This is history we’re making. So I’m going to give it my all.”

And that is not all! Tekken owners Namco Bandai will also be releasing a game featuring the fighters from both companies. How awesome is this!? Tekken creator, Katsuhiro Harada says, “The ultimate dream match-up is about to be realized. With this astonishing collaboration, a new chapter in fighting game history begins.” Details are scarce at the moment but I’m confident it will be exciting.

Capcom vs Namco Bandai – Let the fight begin, and the winner is the player.

Street Fighter X Tekken will be available on both Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3.
