Microsoft has unveiled a broad range of games for its Windows Phone 7 mobile operating system. The launch line-up consists largely of existing Xbox Live titles (e.g. Rocket Riot, UNO), mobile gaming hits (Mini Squadron, Jet Car Stunts) and console spin-offs (Assassin’s Creed, Guitar Hero 5). Personally, I’m looking forward to Fight Game Rivals. Though little is known of Rough Cookie’s forthcoming release, I’m hoping it will be a game in which I get to fight my rivals.
Australian developers are well represented with Halfbrick’s Fruit Ninja, Firemint’s Flight Control and Infinite Interactive’s Puzzle Quest 2 all likely to be popular among early adopters. We’ll also be receiving Halfbrick’s Age of Zombies, which until now had been exclusive to Sony’s PlayStation Minis store. It remains to be seen how a phone will handle what is essentially a dual stick shooter (methinks badly).
Users will also have access to a range of Xbox Live gaming features including Avatars, Friends and Achievements.
Microsoft is yet to pin down a release date for Windows Phone 7.
