Were you looking forward to WarDevil: Unleash the Beast Within? If so, we have some good news and some bad news. Let’s get the bad news out of the way first, eh? According to a report published on Develop, Ignition Entertainment has pulled the plug on the fantasy action game after more than five years in production. However, the story doesn’t end there.

Despite numerous redundancies at the London based studio, it appears that the game itself may have survived the bloodletting. Ignition’s parent company UTV has issued a statement to Medianama indicating that the game will be completed either by the remaining in-house developers or external contractors. UTV described the shedding of staff towards the completion of the project as a “normal” aspect of the business. Hmmm, I guess that was the good news?

If UTV’s most recent proclamations regarding the release date hold true, PlayStation 3 owners can looking forward to playing WarDevil: Unleash the Beast Within in early 2012.
