Welcome to the Black List, our regular retrospective on the week in games.

On MONDAY, we attempted to keep our tempers in check while viewing the first footage of Asura’s Wrath, Capcom’s new mystical action game.

On TUESDAY, Joel reviewed Metroid: Other M, the latest game from infamous Dead or Alive developer Team Ninja.

On WEDNESDAY, we brought you news of the new download service planned for Nintendo’s forthcoming 3DS handheld.

On THURSDAY, the announcement trailer for Suda51’s Shadows of the Damned left us less than impressed.

On FRIDAY, Peter emerged from witness protection to deliver his verdict on Mafia II, 2K Czech’s long awaited open world crime sequel.

Mafia II Review

Mafia II did a rare thing by grabbing my attention with the pre-release trailers. After not knowing a thing about the game, I couldn’t wait to experience what looked like a refreshing change from my usual focus on fantasy or sci-fi based gaming worlds.  Everyone knows the Martin Scorsese and Francis Ford Coppola mafia world, particularly for their strong characters and rise and fall storylines within a world of violence, so I was curious to explore this in a game.
