Vanguard Games is returning to Mistbound, the steampunk setting of its downloadable strategy title Greed Corp. While it will explore similar thematic territory, the newly announced Gatling Gears will ditch the turn based tactics on if its predecessor in favour of some frenetic twin stick action. I bet you didn’t see that one coming.

You’ll be stepping into the role of Max Brawley. With a handle like that, you’re sure to be kicking arse and taking names. Sadly, those names are likely to be considerably less manly your own. Your opponent will be a soulless corporation ruthlessly exploiting an increasingly unstable environment. By the looks of it, you’ll encounter a variety of enemy units, including mechanised walkers, airships and infantry.

Twin stick shooters aren’t exactly in short supply these days, so Gatling Gears will need to be pretty special in order to grab our attention. Publisher EA Partners has announced that it will arrive on XBLA, PSN and PC in autumn 2011.
