Just when you thought it was safe to tuck in your shirt, Sony and Naughty Dog have unveiled the latest chapter in the chronicles of Nathan Drake. The famously dishevelled treasure hunter will return in Uncharted 3: Drake’s Deception and he’ll be bringing his trusted partner Sully along for the ride. There has been no word as yet on the potential involvement of Elena, our hero’s feisty and capable love interest.

A good chunk of the action will take place in the Arabian Desert, as Drake and co search for an ancient city that lies beneath the searing dunes. You’ll be surprised to hear that a mystical cult has also taken a keen interest in the site. Here’s hoping that the two groups can work out their differences without the need for violence. If things do happen to turn sour, you’ll have an expanded range of melee combat options at your disposal.

Uncharted 3 will support stereoscopic 3D, reconfirming Sony’s commitment to the divisive technology.

A release date is yet to be announced for this rabidly anticipated PlayStation 3 exclusive.
