THQ has issued a wonderfully uninformative teaser for inSANE, its forthcoming collaboration with the director of Pan’s Labyrinth. The 90 second clip promises a “new terror from Guillermo del Toro” but the source of our fear remains a mystery. On the available evidence, we can assume that we’ll be haunted by eerie music and shaky text. Oh, the humanity!
It’s worth noting that inSANE is the first of a projected trilogy, so we’re actually in the dark about three games, not just one. What we do know is that development has been assigned to Volition, the THQ studio responsible for the Red Faction and Saints Row franchises. A quick perusal of their back catalogue suggests that this will be their first foray into the horror genre.
THQ is yet to identify target platforms for inSANE. This is likely because the first game in the series is projected to ship in 2013, by which time the console landscape may have altered dramatically.
