EA and BioWare have unveiled Mass Effect 3 and confirmed that PlayStation 3 owners will be invited to the party on day one.
The latest chapter in the star spanning saga will see Commander Shepard return to Earth, presumably for some well earned rest and relaxation. Unfortunately, a fleet of alien ships have devastated the planet and slaughtered millions. On a positive note, the announcement trailer confirms that at least one popular tourist destination remains open for business.
This could well be our last opportunity to pull on Commander Shepard’s well worn combat boots. BioWare has often described the series as a trilogy and according to a report on Shacknews, Mass Effect 3 game saves will not be used to inform the events of subsequent releases. (The second and third titles access saves from previous instalments in the series.)
While the second game in series endured a staggered launch, Mass Effect 3 will arrive simultaneously on Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and PC in Q4 2010.
