Rockstar spills L.A. Noire release date

After more than six years in solitary confinement, Team Bondi’s period cop drama L.A. Noire finally has a release date. Barring any unforeseen incidents, one of the more ambitious projects attempted by an Australian developer will hit the shelves on Friday 20 May.

The announcement coincides with the release of a fresh trailer. Like its predecessor, the new clip is comprised entirely of in-engine footage. The City of Angles may be awash with violent psychopaths, but at least they’ll be lifelike and expressive.

As LAPD Detective Cole Phelps, you’ll be called upon to lend your expertise to several departments, including Homicide and Arson. You’ll also spend some time with the Traffic boys, which must be more interesting than it sounds.

While this will be the developer’s first release, publisher Rockstar Games is aiming to extend a winning run that takes in the likes of Grand Theft Auto IV and Red Dead Redemption.

L.A. Noire is coming to 360 and PS3.
