MONDAY l REVIEW l Raskulls > A decent alternative to Mr. Driller, this block busting puzzler falls a little short of its potential. Sadly, its most intriguing modes are rarely seen, while the button mashing racing levels constantly take centre stage. While enjoyably chaotic in short bursts, one hour with Raskulls is like five with a regular game, at least in terms of wear and tear on your precious digits. READ MORE

TUESDAY l NEWS l Battlefield 3 > A new teaser has emerged for Battlefield 3, the forthcoming first person war game from EA and DICE. Set in the modern world, the latest instalment in the long running franchise will feature epic encounters involving up to 64 combatants on PC and 24 on console. Players demanding the return of jet aircraft will be pleased to note their inclusion among the many vehicles on offer.  READ MORE

WEDNESDAY l NEWS l 3DS > I’ve just returned from the 3DS press event in Sydney, where Nintendo revealed the Australian price and release date for its latest handheld. This was also my first chance to hold the system in my hands, road test a handful of games and see for myself whether the glasses-free 3D effect works as advertised. It was also the only place in town where you could conceivably hold a 3DS in one hand and a complementary hotdog in the other. READ MORE

FRIDAY l NEWS l Guitar Hero > Four years after purchasing peripheral specialists Red Octane, Activision has pulled the plug on its Hero branded rhythm games. The publisher has attributed the decision to discontinue Guitar Hero, Band Hero and DJ Hero to “rapid declines in the music genre” and “considerable licensing and manufacturing costs”. Call us crazy, but we think flooding the market with more 20 boxed products in a few short years may also have had something to do with it. READ MORE
