How does a studio contribute to two blockbuster RTS releases and yet remain virtually unknown? Well, for one reason or another, Robot Entertainment never seems to be front and centre when a game actually launches.
In 2009, the Texan independent was contracted to provide post release support for Ensemble Studios’ Halo Wars. It then commenced work on Age of Empires Online, only to transfer development duties to Gas Powered Games long before the projected release date.
Now, with the announcement of Orcs Must Die, it appears that Robot Entertainment will have its long awaited day in the sun. The fantasy themed action strategy game is the studio’s first original creation.
As an inexperienced War Mage, you will be charged with defending civilisation from a near infinite number of bloodthirsty orcs. If the announcement trailer is any guide, you’ll achieve this by laying traps, unleashing spells and calling in support from archers.
A release window is yet to be announced for Orcs Must Die, which will be made available in downloadable form on PC and unspecified consoles.
