Just one of the games that has fallen foul of the Australian classification system
Australia has taken a further step towards the introduction of an R18+ rating for video games. The Attorneys General met in Adelaide earlier today, along with Federal Home Affairs Minister Brendan O’Connor. As reported by The Age, all of the Attorneys General bar NSW representative Greg Smith, who abstained from the vote, agreed in principle to this long awaited reform.
Under the current system, any game which cannot be accommodated under the MA15+ guidelines is refused classification and effectively banned from sale in this country. O’Connor described today’s progress towards an R18+ rating as “an historic agreement” that will bring the nation in line with “New Zealand, the US, Europe and many other parts of the world.”
While O’Connor expressed hope that Smith would endorse the plan following consultation with his state colleagues, he did state (via GameSpot) that an R18+ classification can operate in all states and territories other than NSW and later informed Kotaku that the rating will likely be introduced before year’s end.

This is good news for Australian gamers! Now if only somebody does something about these ridiculous prices then we should be up to date with the rest of the world.
Now hopefully I can get MY GOTY edition of Mortal Kombat!!!
…with Freddy Krueger DLC!
That’s why the Aussies deserve a GOTY edition with all of the DLC. I already imported MK but getting the DLC is a pain in the backside.
I have to admit, that picture made me lol.
