Who is Lollipop Chainsaw intended for?

That's one way to shorten the line at Bunnings.

Prolific developer Grasshopper Manufacture has announced yet another project. In an interview with Japanese magazine Famitsu (via 1UP) Managing Director Suda51 has unveiled Lollipop Chainsaw. Much like predecessors No More Heroes and Shadows of the Damned, the new game looks likely to test the boundaries of good taste.

Featuring a hyper sexualised, chainsaw wielding cheerleader named Juliet in the lead role, this third person action game will see players carve their way through a zombie infested nightmare. According to Suda51, players will be able to unleash “action moves that take advantage of her cheerleading skills”. We Cheer players will be hoping like hell that their hard earned skills are transferable.

Is Lollipop Chainsaw aimed at people with, shall we say, unfortunate predilections? The events of the game apparently take place on Juliet’s 18th birthday, but she remains a high school student with a penchant for juvenile hair styles. Further, the handful of screenshots available for the game include gratuitous crotch and bottom shots. It certainly doesn’t look good, but it may be too early to pass judgement.

Lollipop Chainsaw is coming to 360 and PS3. A release date is yet to be announced.
