Hard sell

‘PC exclusive’, two words that these days are rarer to find together than a good movie tie-in, yet that is exactly what Hard Reset is offering, PC exclusivity. Hard Reset is a FPS set in a distant future with all the usual futuristic trappings we, as gamers, have come to expect. Mechs, electric weapons and neon lights are clearly in abundance, making the setting seem very familiar to anyone who has played a video game in the last 10 years.

Luckily the trailer also shows what looks to be some frantic first person action with explosions and gun fights aplenty, which will hopefully make up for the generic (yet without doubt stunning) setting. The main character, who features prominently in the trailer, appears to be a somewhat bloody combination of Commander Shepherd from Mass Effect and JC Denton from Deus Ex with Hard Reset showing more than a few strands of the DNA of these two games.

Hopefully developer Flying Wild Hog can optimise Hard Reset to take full advantage of their chosen platform’s potential and come September give PC gamers a reason to show off again.
