Xenoblade to slice and dice Downunder

Unless you’re particularly enamoured with bargain basement movie tie-ins or bloodthirsty hunting games, you’re unlikely to have purchased a Wii title for several months. With the Wii U looming large on the horizon, it was beginning to look as if the 2011 pipeline was about to run dry. Fortunately, Nintendo has this week confirmed that a long awaited JRPG is set to make its way to our fair shores.

A month after Nintendo of America revealed that it had no plans to localise Xenoblade Chronicles, the publisher’s Australian arm confirmed that the game will be released on Thursday 1 September. As with the previous ‘Xeno’ branded titles, this latest fantasy RPG was developed by Monolith Soft.

While European gamers will have the option to purchase the game alongside a Classic Controller Pro, the Australian version will initially be bundled with a bonus soundtrack CD.

Fair warning: If you’re thinking about watching the European trailer posted above, you may wish to skip past the… thing… at 49 second mark, at least if you ever wish to sleep again.

Will Xenoblade Chronicles be the first of several dominoes to fall? Those of you waiting for localised editions of Wii exclusive RPGs The Last Story and Pandora’s Tower will doubtlessly be keeping your fingers and toes crossed.
