Another Crom, this time from Climax

Independent UK studio Climax Group has issued the first (blink and you’ll miss it) footage of its forthcoming XBLA exclusive Bloodforge. Not to be confused with the Brazilian metal band of the same name, Bloodforge is a third person action game set in a grim fantasy milieu. Though Climax has shown precious little of the game, it appears to feature a moody sepia pallet reminiscent of Frank Miller’s 300.

As skull masked protagonist Crom, you’ll be introducing “demonic soldiers, deformed worshippers, and the gods themselves” to the pointy end of your sword. The name has a rich history. Crom was a deity associated with blood sacrifice in ancient Ireland. He was also a fictional god in Robert E. Howard’s Conan cycle and a minor character in Disney’s Tron. Will this new Crom prove worthy of the name? Time will tell, though exactly how much time you’ll be expected to wait remains uncertain, as publisher Microsoft Studios is yet to announce a release date.
