Creatively named Blizzard DOTA is “Coming Soon(ish)”

Development giant Blizzard Entertainment first announced Blizzard DOTA in October last year, but few details have emerged regarding the project – until now.

The free game modification will be available to players who own StarCraft 2: Wings of Liberty and draws its cast from Blizzard’s various universes including Diablo, Warcraft and StarCraft. With such well known characters making appearances, the cast alone should be enough to seal the interests of a potentially large player base.

The trailer’s tongue-in-cheek approach makes it almost April Fools’ worthy and with lines dubbing gameplay “…an endless battle with no purpose other than ladder points”, it leaves me wondering if it is a serious effort. Blizzard DOTA will be a free mod for all owners of Starcraft 2 on PC and is tagged as “Coming Soon(ish)™”.
