Update 03.09.12: Konami has released an extended trailer for Metal Gear Solid: Ground Zeroes. Posted above, the moody 11 minute clip indicates that the game is on its way to 360 and PS3.
Original Story: Huge news has emerged from this week’s Metal Gear Solid 25th Anniversary Celebration. Yes, GREE has revealed that it is bringing the world’s most iconic stealth series to mobile phones in the form of Metal Gear Solid: Social Ops. Before you pelt us with rotten fruit, be assured that this isn’t the “huge news” we’re referring to. No, we’re actually talking about the release of brand new screenshots for the long awaited Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance. No, wait, that’s not it either.
Okay, the truth. As reported by IGN, Kojima Productions has showcased its Fox engine with a Metal Gear Solid themed tech demo. Better yet, it appears the demo will be expanded into a full home console instalment. The new game, titled Metal Gear Solid: Ground Zeroes (unless that turns out to be merely the name of the demo) will reportedly bring open world action to the series for the first time.
Target platforms and release dates are yet to be announced for Metal Gear Solid: Ground Zeroes.
