Grasshopper’s latest confirmed for Oz

And if you call in the next 10 minutes, we’ll throw in a second blade at NO EXTRA CHARGE.

Fans of prolific Japanese developer Grasshopper Manufacture will be pleased to hear that Killer is Dead has been confirmed for a local release, courtesy of publisher Deep Silver.

The latest offering from the Shadows of the Damned developer takes place in a cyberpunk future. This third person action game sees players fill the shoes of a suave executioner (two words that don’t often go together) named Mondo Zappa. When he isn’t trying to make time with the ladies, Zappa is unleashing hot death with his robotic arm (which transforms into a variety of weapons). For some reason, he also carries a samurai sword. The game features a future noir aesthetic reminiscent of the developer’s 2005 GameCube title Killer 7.

In related news, Grasshopper Manufacture has been purchased by GungHo Online Entertainment, the Japanese publisher best known for Ragnarok Online. In a small act of mercy, the newly acquired studio will retain its current name rather than suffer through a rebranding to GungHo Suginami (or something equally inane).

Killer is Dead is scheduled for release on 360 and PS3 in winter.
