ITEM! The future is looking bright for Command & Conquer fans.  Free to play browser game Command & Conquer: Tiberium Alliances has joined Command & Conquer: Generals 2 on EA’s production schedule.

ITEM! Interplay has relinquished its long disputed claim on a potential Fallout MMO. The publisher received US$2m as part of an out of court settlement that restored all rights to the franchise to ZeniMax subsidiary Bethesda Softworks.

ITEM! Sci-fi revival Syndicate has been refused classification, effectively banning it from sale in this country. EA has elected not to challenge the decision, instead calling for the introduction of an R18+ rating to accommodate more mature content.

ITEM! Ruin will henceforth be known as Warrior’s Lair. The promising fantasy action RPG will allow you to commence your game on either the PS3 or Vita and then swap your save freely between the two.

ITEM! A Melbourne based independent operation has emerged from the closure of the local arm of Visceral Studios. According to its recently established website, PlaySide will produce “console quality products, tailored for mobile devices”.

ITEM! A new expansion pack is in the works for epic PC strategy game Total War: Shogun 2.  Fall of the Samurai will boast new scenarios, clans and units as well as a range of gameplay tweaks. Publisher SEGA is aiming for a March 2012 release.

ITEM! It seems the PSVita instalment of Namco’s ubiquitous Ridge Racer franchise will include only five cars and three tracks. According to a report by Famitsu (via CVG) additional content will then be made available for download on a weekly basis.

ITEM! System 3 has revealed that its Putty Squad remake will be joining the PSVita launch line up. When the game is published in February 2012, it will have been two decades since the first appearance of the UK studio’s amorphous mascot.

ITEM! Square Enix has brokered a deal that will see Final Fantasy XIII-2 hero Noel Kreiss step out in threads usually worn by Ubisoft’s Assassin’s Creed protagonist Ezio Auditore. Fashion conscious gamers will be able to access the costume via DLC.

ITEM! Sony’s practice of repackaging PS2 hits is set to continue with the February 2012 release of The Jak and Daxter Trilogy on PS3. Why stop at three games? Where is the love for Jak X: Combat Racing?

ITEM! A new handheld MotorStorm title is the works at Evolutions Studios. The twist this time around is that players will be guiding remote controlled cars around miniature tracks. MotorStorm RC will launch alongside the PSVita in February 2012.

ITEM! Yet another successful indie team has been absorbed by a major publisher. SEGA has announced that it has acquired Three Rings Design, the US studio responsible for popular free-to-play fantasy game Spiral Knights.

ITEM! After producing the likes of Age of Empires Online and Orcs Must Die, Robot Entertainment has unveiled its first iOS project. Hero Academy is a multiplayer turn based strategy game in which combatants can have multiple games on the go at any given time.

ITEM! Codemasters is resurrecting its long dormant British gaming icon Dizzy for iOS and Android. An updated version of 1991’s egg themed platformer Dizzy: Prince of the Yolkfolk is due for release on 9 December.

ITEM! The next dashboard update for the Xbox 360, due to take place on 6 December, will include a new interface, cloud storage functionality and a ‘beacons’  feature to enable players to schedule times to party up with each other in specified games.

ITEM! The developer behind the forthcoming Syndicate revival is already planning its next move. Starbreeze Studios CEO Mikael Nermark has informed CVG that the company has commenced work on as yet unnamed PSN game.

ITEM! We now know exactly how long we have to wait before we can play as a monkey wearing a jetpack. Developer Ronimo Games has revealed that its forthcoming multiplayer action fest Awesomenauts will arrive on XBLA and PSN in February 2012.

ITEM! Valve has revealed that aspects of its Steam service have been accessed by hackers. User names, passwords and encrypted credit card information may have been obtained by the miscreants. Check out Valve’s apology and advice to consumers here.

ITEM! Will Wright has offered a mysterious hint about his next project. The SimCity creator told VentureBeat that HiveMind will adapt to its players’ circumstances in a range of ways, an example being where they and their friends are located in the real world.

ITEM! SEGA and Arkedo Studios are collaborating on the curiously titled Project Hell Yeah! Details about the project are currently scarce. What system is it for? Dunno. Platform? Not sure. Release date? Can’t help you. What’s it about? Something about monsters, we think.
