ITEM! Blizzard Entertainment’s Battle.net portal has been hacked. Though it claims the information accessed should not be sufficient to compromise accounts, Blizzard has nevertheless urged its users to change their passwords.

ITEM! Epic Games has unveiled its latest development house. It consists primarily of Big Huge Games staff scooped up in the wake of the collapse of 38 Studios. Dubbed Impossible Studios, the new team is hard at work on Infinity Blade: Dungeons.

ITEM! Australian middleware company BigWorld has been snapped up by an international suitor. As reported by Venture Beat, the online gaming specialist was this week acquired by World of Tanks developer Wargaming.net for US $45m.

ITEM! Thanks to Warner Bros Interactive, the series with the most generic title in popular entertainment is set to expand. Game Party Champions for Wii U will soon join Game Party, More Game Party and Game Party in Motion in bargain bins everywhere.

ITEM! The voice cast for Arkane Studios’ Dishonored will feature respected Hollywood actors Susan Sarandon (Rugrats in Paris: The Movie), Brad Dourif (Critters 4), Carrie Fisher (Charlie’s Angels: Full Throttle) and Michael Madsen (Bloodrayne).

ITEM! Demiurge Studios has revealed that it is working on a sequel of sorts to its side scrolling sci-fi action game Shoot Many Robots. Arena Kings will take place in the same universe as its predecessor, but focus on adversarial multiplayer.

ITEM! Having kept a low profile following several rounds of layoffs, Australia’s own Krome Studios has hinted that it is working on a game to celebrate the 10th anniversary of company mascot Ty: The Tasmanian Tiger.

ITEM! Following months of staff cuts and studio closures, THQ has avoided being delisted from the NASDAQ stock exchange, CVG has reported. The next major release from the publisher will be Darksiders II, due Thursday 16 August.

ITEM! Just two weeks after the first game was announced for the OUYA, the small silver box has its second. According to story on Square Portal, the Android remake of Final Fantasy III will be coming to the console at launch.

ITEM! Online support for four Sony titles will soon cease. The Eye of Judgement: Legends will go dark on 31 August, while support for MotorStorm: Pacific Rift, MotorStorm: Arctic Edge and SOCOM: Fireteam Bravo 3 will wind up on 1 October.

ITEM! One of the most revered settings in fantasy role playing is to be revisited. EA and BioWare Mythic (Warhammer Online) are working to bring Ultima Forever: Quest for the Avatar to PC and iPad, with support for cross platform play.

ITEM! Forthcoming Kickstarter game Wasteland 2 will include a handy bonus for anyone curious about the history of the apocalyptic series. The original Wasteland, first issued in 1987, will be included with all copies of the sequel.

ITEM! Brothers in Arms: Furious 4 won’t be landing on store shelves in 2012. Gearbox Software head honcho Randy Pitchford told CVG that the studio’s irreverent co-op shooter has undergone significant changes and indeed is “still evolving”.

ITEM! Beatles legend Paul McCartney has revealed that he is working with Bungie. As noted by The Escapist, his compositions may be intended for the studio’s forthcoming multiplatform project with Activision or its recently revealed Marathon revival.

ITEM! Epic Games’ own Fortnite will be the first game to run on Unreal Engine 4 according to a report on Game Informer. Perhaps a left field choice due to its cartoon visuals, Fortnite is slated for release on PC in 2013.

ITEM! The future isn’t looking terribly bright for Devil’s Third. After announcing it with great fanfare, THQ has pulled the plug. As revealed by Eurogamer, the publisher has handed the rights to the game back to developer Valhalla Studios.

ITEM! Petrol heads take note. Remedy Entertainment’s Death Rally revival is making its way from iOS to PC. Given that the series began on the PC back in 1996, the game’s August release will represent something of a homecoming.

ITEM! Delirious Saturn side-scroller Nights Into Dreams is making a comeback. According to publisher SEGA, a new edition of the game featuring enhanced widescreen graphics will arrive on XBLA, PSN and PC in spring.

ITEM! Bullet hell shooter Sine Mora is coming to PS3 according to CVG. Already announced for Vita (and available on XBLA), it is one of two collaborations between Grasshopper Manufacture and Digital Reality, the other being Black Knight Sword.

ITEM! Blizzard has conceded that the end game of Diablo III needs to be improved. The developer told visitors to the game’s official forum that it recognises that loot grinding won’t (on its own) be enough to sustain long term interest.
