StarCraft II: Wings of Liberty Review

Once again, you’ll be asked to step into the well worn combat boots of renegade marshal Jim Raynor. Monday Night Combat Review

Monday Night Combat is a wonderfully entertaining mix of player vs player, third-person shooter with tower-defence mechanics set in a futuristic combat game show. Think The Running Man X Wipeout (or It’s a Knockout if you’re an older reader) and you have some idea. Visually, Monday Night Combat looks very similar to Team Fortress 2, with vibrant colours and cartoonish characters. It looks awesome. Read the rest of this entry »

Singularity Review

Many science-fiction writers have given it due consideration and even Cher flirted with the idea in the late 80s,  but only Raven Software are able to provide us with the experience of being able to turn back time. At its core, Singularity is a straightforward first person shooter. However the ability to manipulate time is integral to both its storyline and gameplay.

Split/Second: Velocity Review

In homage to Split/Second, onomatopoeia and Michael Bay fans everywhere, I will pad out my (CRASH!) review with gratuitous explosive (ZAP!) words to show I that I too love over-the-top explosions, cars, stuff blowing up, moving things, and… BOOM! Get ready for an adrenalin RUSH!

Now, I’m really not a fan of racing games. If the cars require even an ounce of skill, I have trouble. I have no interest in selecting a car based on a myriad of attributes where tiny differences can mean the difference between first and ‘Loser’. I rolled my eyes when Erin asked me to review this game (thankfully, via a phone call), and thought I would be in for a miserable experience. I was wrong. If you’re the kind of person that likes movies by Martin Scorsese, Stanley Kubrick, or perhaps Clint Eastwood you’ll want to find a more serious game instead. On the other hand, if you like movies by Michael (BAM!) Bay, Roland Emmerich or McG, then Split/Second fill fit right in with your collection. Read the rest of this entry »
