MONDAY JUST ANNOUNCED Deadlight > Do you know what the world needs? More zombie video games, that’s what. No, I am serious. The more of the undead we take out in a virtual setting, the better prepared the human race will be when the inevitable zombie apocalypse happens. Luckily new studio Tequila Works realises this and are providing us with another brain eater survival training simulator called Deadlight. READ MORE

TUESDAY NEWS Apple addressing exploitation concerns… slowly > The company that blacklisted Phone Story has conceded that many of its suppliers are still not meeting their obligations to their employees. As reported by The Age, the tech giant has confirmed that one third of its partners are failing to provide a safe workplace, while almost two thirds are demanding excessive hours from their workers. This excellent little real time strategy title is already available on XBLA, PSN and PC. This is just one of the stories in the latest edition of nanoBITES, our ongoing feature devoted to small but important news items. READ MORE

MONDAY TEST TUBE Cities XL 2012 > Whatever happened to Sim City? The last game in the series debuted in 2003 and later ‘versions’ were basically Sim City 4 repackaged. The Cities XL franchise would seem to be its spiritual successor. I spent a few hours with the latest version of Cities XL, the 2012 edition, and this is what I think you’re likely to get out of it. READ MORE

TUESDAY NEWS nanoBITES 67 > Interplay has relinquished its long disputed claim on a potential Fallout MMO. The publisher received US$2m as part of an out of court settlement that restored all rights to the franchise to ZeniMax subsidiary Bethesda Softworks. WEDNESDAY REVIEW Assassin’s Creed: Revelations > Three years after the events he orchestrated in Brotherhood, Ezio returns for another satisfying blend of stealth, combat and traversal. Primarily set in a period rich with culture and conflict, Revelations brings an interesting narrative to an open world packed with side quests. The multiplayer aspect of the game provides a decent break in routine, but flying solo is where it really excels. READ MORE

THURSDAY REVIEW Amy > There are some things I just cannot stand to do in life. Cleaning the oil trap at my Grandma’s house, dealing with two day old roadkill and using a port-a-loo at a rock festival are just some of the horrible things I never want to do again. Well, I just added another item to the list and that is playing Amy. READ MORE

MONDAY FEATURE New Horizons: 50 Original Games for 2012 – Part 6 > Six years after Shadow of the Colossus cemented Team Ico’s status as a critical darling, the studio’s next game is nowhere to be found. Development of The Last Guardian has been characterised by lengthy delays, resignation of key staff and even (thus far unfounded) rumours of cancelation. This PS3 exclusive will explore the emotional bond between a boy and a creature that can only be described as a big, shaggy, bird, dog, thing. This is just one of the games tackled in part six of our massive preview special. READ MORE

TUESDAY FEATURE New Horizons: 50 Original Games for 2012 – Part 7 > As anyone who has been decapitated can tell you, paper cuts are not, contrary to popular opinion, the worst kind of cuts. When you play as NeverDead badass Bryce Boltzmann, you’ll be deprived of your arms, legs and even your head on a daily basis. According to developer Rebellion, rolling around as a severed head will actually have its advantages. Konami will publish this third person action game on 360 and PS3 in February. This is just one of the games tackled in part seven of our massive preview special. READ MORE

WEDNESDAY FEATURE New Horizons: 50 Original Games for 2012 – Part 8 > It may look like a claymation Christmas special and sound like a line of collectable toy ponies but Rainbow Moon is aimed squarely at the dedicated RPG fan. This isometric fantasy adventure will offer dozens of hours of exploration, turn based combat and puzzle solving. Hong Kong’s SideQuest Studios, best known for its work on the Söldner-X series, is targeting a Q1 release for this PSN exclusive. This is just one of the games tackled in part eight of our massive preview special. READ MORE

THURSDAY FEATURE New Horizons: 50 Original Games for 2012 – Part 9 > With version 1.0 of itsuser generated content phenomenon Minecraft finally out in the wild, Mojang is free to concentrate on its next project. A fantasy themed strategy title for unspecified platforms, Scrolls appears to combine elements of Magic: The Gathering and Pokémon. The real question is: can Mojang finish work on Scrolls before someone else recreates it in Minecraft? This is just one of the games tackled in part nine of our massive preview special. READ MORE

THURSDAY TEST TUBE House of the Dead: Overkill – Extended Cut > It has been a big year for remakes and Sony continue their re-mastering with House of the Dead: Overkill. Originally released on the Wii console two years ago, it now comes with a fresh coat of HD graphics. Two extra levels, PlayStation Move support and an option for 3D viewing contribute to a game worth playing. READ MORE

FRIDAY FEATURE New Horizons: 50 Original Games for 2012 – Part 10 > With its dual analogue controls, accessible multiplayer and travel friendly mission structure, Zipper Interactive’s first Vita game should be able to find an audience. Unfortunately, it appears that someone within the company doesn’t want to see it succeed. How else can you explain Unit 13 being saddled with the most generic sounding moniker since The Outfit? If you can still remember the title of the game by February, this one may be worth a look. This is just one of the games tackled in part ten of our massive preview special. READ MORE
