MONDAY REVIEW Asura’s Wrath > As the fate of a strange world hangs in the balance, gods and monsters clash in battles of unprecedented scale. Characters that wouldn’t look out of place in Street Fighter IV are rapidly propelled through set pieces that recall the epic delirium of anime. Quieter moments are rendered via elegant stills reminiscent of traditional Japanese illustration. Asura’s Wrath is, if nothing else, an astonishing spectacle. READ MORE

TUESDAY NEWS nanoBITES 74 > After receiving a warm reception on 360 and PS3, futuristic squad based shooter Binary Domain is coming to PC. WEDNESDAY JUST ANNOUNCED R.E.D. Frontier > The action strategy revival is set to continue with Swedish developer Zeal Game Studios revealing that it is working on a new multiplayer entry in the genre. Set in the far reaches of a war torn universe, R.E.D. Frontier will see players hammer seven shades of the proverbial out of one another in a desperate attempt to secure precious fuel supplies. THURSDAY REVIEW Warp > As an alien prisoner named Zero, you possess a knack for teleportation and a thirst for revenge. The debut release from Trapdoor sees you navigate platforms, solve puzzles and sneak past or kill trigger happy security guards. It may look cutesy, but Warp sports a mature rating courtesy of some gory violence. Held back only by a few minor control and camera issues, this is a great downloadable title. READ MORE

FRIDAY REVIEW Unit 13 > From Gears of War to Uncharted, third person shooters have always excited me. Hell, I even enjoyed the latest Red Faction even though nobody else seemed to. Until recently, this love had all been console based. It was probably one of the main reasons I had never been into portable gaming on a massive level. That all changed with the release of the PSVita and its dual stick control scheme. Shooters were finally feasible on the go and the first to take advantage was Unit 13. READ MORE

MONDAY JUST ANNOUNCED Hell Yeah: Wrath of the Dead Rabbit > There may be plenty of video game rabbits (Jazz, Max, Cream, etc) but only one bunny can lay claim to the title Prince of Hell. Ash is the protagonist in SEGA’s forthcoming Hell Yeah: Wrath of the Dead Rabbit. After a rival demon distributes intimate photographs of Ash throughout the underworld, he picks up his trusty drill and heads out for a bit of payback. READ MORE

TUESDAY JUST ANNOUNCED Fable Heroes > After three retail releases of varying quality and the announcement of a contentious Kinect game, the Fable series is taking another detour. Fable Heroes will bring a colourful blend of cooperation and competition to the fantasy world of Albion. Up to four heroes will be able to join the quest, which will see players cut down cartoon baddies, level up and accumulate loot. READ MORE

WEDNESDAY JUST ANNOUNCED The Showdown Effect > Magicka developer Arrowhead Game Studios has unveiled its latest project. The Showdown Effect takes combatants from throughout history and pits them against one another in a variety of expansive 2D environments. The teaser trailer features a futuristic cop and a medieval knight. The game will support eight player clashes, so it’s fair to assume we’ll see at least another half a dozen characters. If there is any justice in this world, the roster will include a disco era kung-fu master. READ MORE

THURSDAY NEWS nanoBITES 73 > Sony and CCP have revealed that forthcoming sci-fi shooter Dust 514 will be free-to-play. Only 48 hours after calling on fans to finance a new Wasteland game for the PC, Brian Fargo and inXile Entertainment have surpassed their $900,000 goal. Thus far, just over 20,000 backers have contributed $1,112,362 to the production. TUESDAY 1 INTERVIEW SEGA’s Toshihiro Nagoshi > Binary Domain is the latest shooter from the SEGA team that brought us the cult franchise Yakuza. Toshihiro Nagoshi, the man behind Yakuza and Super Monkey Ball, served as a lead developer on Binary Domain and I was recently given the opportunity to pose some questions to him regarding the game. READ MORE

TUESDAY 2 REVIEW Binary Domain > Every now and then a game comes along that is better than expected. All the information leading up to its release is a little underwhelming, there is little in the way of advertising and maybe an average demo lowers expectations. Then the game is released and not only does it blow away the average opinion of the title but it puts the game towards the peak of the genre. This is one such game. READ MORE

WEDNESDAY REVIEW To the Moon > It isn’t often that a game prompts you to question the values surrounding your existence and the meaning of your relationships. Indie title To the Moon sets out to challenge you and leaves a lasting impression that will move and possibly inspire. READ MORE

THURSDAY REVIEW Touch My Katamari > Touch My Katamari is (unfortunately) nowhere near as dirty as it sounds. A simple yet addictive game lies under the hood of a story that requires an extensive understanding of the crazier parts of the Japanese psyche. Simple yet colourful graphics, tight controls and some challenging levels make this a game that is great in short stints. The overall package is let down by a lack of variety and a poor camera.  READ MORE

FRIDAY JUST ANNOUNCED SimCity > Pining for a revival of SimAnt, SimCopter or SimGolf? Well, that’s too bad, because you’re going to have to make do with a new SimCity instead. EA and Maxis have confirmed that they are working on the first entry in the main series since 2003’s Sim City 4. The new game, which will be known simply as SimCity, is due to arrive in 2013. TUESDAY PREVIEW Mass Effect 3 > Set in a future where humanity shares the galaxies with a multitude of other species, the Mass Effect games have been renowned for meaningful storytelling, deep immersion and engaging gameplay. As the final instalment in a much loved science fiction series, Mass Effect 3 has naturally been the subject of intense speculation. It could even be argued that the level of hype surrounding the game has done more damage than good. READ MORE

WEDNESDAY JUST ANNOUNCED Mark of the Ninja > The next project from the indie studio responsible for Shank has appeared out of nowhere. Unlike its frantically paced predecessors, the latest game from Klei Entertainment will reward patience, stealth and (above all) the element of surprise. As reported by Game Informer, Assassin’s Creed III will transfer the action from the European Renaissance to the American War of Independence. After three games in the hot seat, including last year’s Assassin’s Creed: Revelations, Ezio Auditore da Firenze will be standing aside for a new master assassin. READ MORE
